Nick Cordero’s wife, Amanda Kloots, is trying to cope as her husband continues to battle coronavirus.

On Tuesday (June 16), Kloots and Cordero’s 1-year-old son, Elvis, took his first steps, and the precious moment was all caught on video. Taking to Instagram, Kloots can be seen and heard in the clip encouraging her baby boy to “walk to mama,” which Elvis does all on his own while wearing a grey onesie and the cutest smile on his face. “We have a WALKER!!!!!” she captioned the adorable clip.

Despite her excitement, Kloots’ proud mommy moment was a bittersweet one as Cordero was unable to be present to watch his son take his first steps. "Elvis took his first steps. I missed them, but his grandparents saw them and I think that's adorable," the fitness instructor started in an Instagram Story. "And then as soon as he saw me he did it for me, so that was really cute."

"Of course my mind went right to Nick and Nick missing that moment. That wasn't easy," she continued. "And every day that goes by I just feel like my heart is just breaking more and more and more. Because I think about him laying there and I just am devastated. And I see our little boy, just the cutest little thing, growing up and doing all these firsts and Nick missing them and it's heartbreaking."

For those who don’t know, Cordero has been in the ICU with coronavirus for over two months and his slow recovery has taken an emotional toll on Kloots. “Some days are good, some days aren’t,” she shared. “Some things look better. Some things aren't. You feel like sometimes there's lots of hope and then sometimes it's not as much hope."

In March, Cordero had to have his leg amputated due to complications with the novel virus. The operation resulted in him being placed in a medically-induced coma, but things only worsened for the thespian when he developed an infection that damaged his lungs so severely that a lung transplant was ruled out as an option. Doctors even advised Kloots to prepare to say goodbye to her husband, who is still fighting for his life today.
